Dame Anita Roddick founded “The Body Shop”, an enterprise that produced and retailed ethical cosmetics products. As well as banning the sale of items that involved testing with animals, she was one of the first Wealth Creators to champion both environmentalism and “Fair Trade”, providing a much better deal for suppliers and workers in developing countries.

Starting in Brighton in 1976, by 2006 when the Company was sold to L’Oreal for £652 million, The Body Shop had around 2,000 stores and over 77 million regular customers in 50 different markets and 25 different languages.

Anita Roddick left her estate to charities.
